What is peyronies disease?

Peyronie's Disease is a condition where scar tissue (known as plaque) develops within the penis, causing curvature, shortening, indentation, or deformity during erections. In some cases, it can also lead to pain or difficulty with sexual intercourse.

What causes peyronies disease?

The exact cause is not always clear, but it is commonly associated with minor injury or repeated trauma to the penis. Genetic factors, connective tissue disorders, and certain health conditions may also increase the risk of developing Peyronie's Disease.

When should I seek treatment?

You should consider seeing a specialist if you notice penile curvature, pain during erections, difficulty with sexual intercourse, or changes in penile shape. Early assessment can help determine the stage of the condition and the most appropriate treatment options.

Can Peyronies go away on it's own?

In some cases, mild symptoms may improve without treatment. However, many men experience persistent or progressive curvature, making specialist assessment important to determine whether intervention is recommended.

When is surgery recommended?

Surgery is generally considered when the condition has stabilised, the curvature significantly affects sexual function, or non-surgical treatments have not provided sufficient improvement. Surgical options may include plaque incision and grafting or other corrective procedures.

Will it make my penis straight again?

The goal of surgery is to restore a functionally straight erection and improve sexual function. Most patients achieve significant straightening following corrective surgery.

Does peyronies treatment shorten my penis?

Certain surgical techniques can result in some shortening. However, specialist procedures such as plaque incision and grafting are specifically designed to straighten the penis while helping to preserve penile length wherever possible. We also offer add on treatments which can enlarge your penis in girth and length.

Is treatment painful?

Most treatments involve minimal discomfort. If surgery is required, appropriate anaesthesia and post-operative pain management are provided to ensure a comfortable recovery.

Who performs the treatment?

All Peyronie's Disease treatments are performed by GMC-registered specialist urologists with experience in male sexual health, penile surgery, and reconstructive procedures.

Is the treatment confidential?

Yes. All consultations and treatments are conducted in a private, discreet clinical environment, with patient confidentiality maintained at all times.
